Quilling the Letter "K"

About a year ago, I cut a big letter K out of a used Pizza box. It came out good but I never got around to doing anything with it and eventually it broke and got tossed in the trash. When I took up quilling I decided this time I would buy a wooden letter so that it would be a solid work area and just an easy head start. Remember, I am new to all of this, so short cuts are welcome. J I got the letter through Walmart Online. It’s 1/8th of an inch thick and 9” high. Good sized.

I started making shapes and gluing them together onto the K. It was really cool looking, but very time consuming. After 2 hours of making shapes and gluing them I found myself frustrated and knowing me like I do.. I didn’t think I would finish it. Yes… I am impatient. So this is how far I got….

So I looked at it….. I liked it and I thought it was pretty, but I also thought it was too busy and like I said… I didn’t think I would finish it at that point, so I scraped it all off and decided to start a new design that might be easier to work with.

So now I am working on this new design. I’ll fill in some of the blank areas when the basic design is nailed down…. Or not. It depends on how it looks.

So that’s my Quilling a K update. I’ll add more pictures as I go along!

Quilling

One of my newest crafting projects is quilling.

Quilling is taking paper and swirling, curling and folding it into shapes for design purposes. I’m new to it and honestly my skills are very basic. I enjoy it, but I can’t do it for long periods of time. Don’t take that as a statement on how hard it is… it’s not, I just get bored quickly. LOL

I’ve done some small projects along the way to practice.

I got into quilling from images I found on the internet and Pinterest. I loved the big initials that people would make. I always wanted my initial hanging in my living room surrounded by pictures of family and friends. So I bought some supplies and decided to give it a go.

Below are some samples of some of my starting projects. My next blog post will be about the Letter K I decided to try and quill.

Welcome to Dreamah Crafts

Greetings! Thanks for finding your way to my craft blog :)

I'm by no means a professional crafter. In fact I usually tend to take the easy way out. I look at something I like, and then try to duplicate it without following directions. Sometimes it works out, sometimes, not so much.

I love to create. So I have a separate blog for my digital crafting, but I wanted to add a space for my material crafting. Why not right? Ok... so over time and without any schedule, I will be adding things I've made or attempted to make and see where we go from there.

Enjoy!
